We collect information that you provide directly to us and information collected automatically when you use our services:

Personal Information: Email address, full name, and profile pictures when you create an account.
Financial Data: Information about expenses, bills, receipts, and balances within your groups. Note: We do not process actual money transfers or store credit card information.
Usage and Analytics Data: We use third-party tools like Google Analytics (Firebase) to collect information about how you use the App, including session duration, screens visited, and features used. This helps us improve our service.
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and crash logs (via Crashlytics) to diagnose and fix technical issues.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for various purposes, including:

To provide, maintain, and improve the Go Even app.
To facilitate bill splitting and ledger management among your friends and groups.
To send you important notifications, such as friend requests, group invites, and expense updates.
To monitor and analyze usage patterns and trends to improve user experience.
To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and bugs.

3. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

With Other Users: Your name, profile picture, and email may be visible to other users when they search for you or if you share a group with them. (You can turn off public search in your profile settings).
With Service Providers: We use trusted third-party providers such as Google (Firebase) for authentication, analytics, crash reporting, and cloud infrastructure. These providers have their own strict privacy policies and are bound by data processing agreements.
For Legal Reasons: If required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

4. Data Retention and Deletion (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)

We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data at any time.

Account Deletion: You can delete your account directly within the App by navigating to Settings > Delete Account. To ensure the financial integrity of shared groups, you must settle all outstanding debts before you can delete your account.

When you delete your account, your profile is permanently anonymized (your name is changed to "Deleted User" and your email is obfuscated). This preserves the mathematical ledger for your friends without retaining your personal identifiers.

5. Security of Your Data

The security of your data is important to us. We use industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice within the App.
